ALOHA (2015) movie review

Splatter: on FILM

920x920I’ve always wondered what it would be like to see some of my favorite actors as children. The kindergarten effect: emotional roller coasters, needing snacks and naps, afraid of odd things, dancing to whatever music plays, having pointless sleepovers, wrecking stuff at will, yelling and calling names, friending and unfriending, saying the darn’dest things.

ALOHA (2015) fulfilled that birthday wish. What a surprise to sit in stunned awe at the total lack of continuity – as if they filmed it all backwards as a joke and forgot to fix it, as if they spliced in a few decent shots of great actors but thought it would be quirky to have them speak in total nonsense or silence (sometimes with subtitles), or as if they tried to make another film…how about Ernest Goes to Hawaii…minus Ernest.

It’s that bad.emma-stone-ewwSave yourself. Avoid. See anything but this. A great review that I…

7 Signs of a Bromance

7 Things No One Told You About Dating A Guy In A Bromance

June 22, 2015 9:25 am‚ By ZARA HUSAINI

It’s been said that we should all remember to keep our friends close, even if we’re in a fresh relationship and tempted to spend every waking minute with the SO. With that being said, there are limits – and anyone who has ever dated a guy who is embroiled in an epic bromance knows that all too well.

1. You’ll be expected to set up all your single friends with him.

Try mentioning a friend your guy doesn’t know and notice his immediate reaction. It’ll probably be something along the lines of “Is she single? Is she cute? Is she crazy?” Chances are, he’s not interested in your friend – he’s just trying to set his bro up with her. And honestly? Take the bait because if you’re in a relationship with a guy who is in a bromance, his buddy is going to be joining you for date nights – with or without a date of his own.

2. You WILL need to complain about him. It WILL cause a fight.

No matter how much you love the other half of your boy’s bromance, it’s human nature to get annoyed with his constant presence, his weird pull on your man, and his incessant need to get your guy sh*tfaced. He’s bound to get on your nerves and when you voice this annoyance to your boyfriend – which is a totally acceptable thing for a girlfriend to do – he’ll probably get realllll salty.

3. You can forget regular Saturday night dates.

Unless your idea of a date involves the three of you cruising a local bar and acting as wingmen for the friend.

4. The friend will probably treat you like a dude/a little sister.

If he’s a straight guy and a good friend, he’ll come to see you as a totally asexual creature –  either another dude or a little sister. Honestly, it will probably be some combination of the two and while this is essentially a good thing, it will be super annoying when he literally pulls a drink out of your hand because he thinks you’ve had too much. Also when he farts around you all the time.

5. The guys will make constant jokes about how they’re secretly in love with one another.

And about 3% of them will actually be funny.

6. His approval will mean way more than it should.

So try and stay on his good side. Not just because you want him to approve of you but because you’re gonna have to live with him around a lot. Might as well make it fun.

7. You will feel like the Topanga to their CoryAndShawn.

Which means that when it’s all said and done, you’re not just getting a boyfriend – you’re also getting an awesome guy friend.
